04 Nov Behind the Ride – Marissa Wong
1) Share with us your most memorable carpool experience (or share a few!)
Couple of months back, my husband and I carpooled with 5 others in an MPV to JB, Malaysia. There were a total of 12 of us and we went in a convoy of 2 cars.
Just after clearing SG immigration, the driver of our car learnt that my husband is familiar with JB and the famous eating places; requested him to take over the wheels. After some encouragement, he agreed.
The other car followed closely, upon reaching the restaurant and seeing the driver was my husband instead, commented “No wonder! Was thinking how come the owner’s driving suddenly improved by leaps and bounds? The ride from causeway to the restaurant was decisive and indication to turn was given ample timing. Even the parking was done with much confidence.” Everyone was praising my husband’s driving even passengers and wife of the owner of our car. My husband felt shy, but they insist he continued taking over the wheels for the rest of the journey.
I felt really proud of my husband.
2) Why do you want to win the car?
I want to win a car for my husband because he is a really good driver. He has a good sense of direction, is confident on the road, safe and brakes softly for the comfort of his passengers. A trait which is rare among drivers nowadays. He is just natural and enjoys driving.
He can hold a good conversation, is witty and polite. Every ride with him, regardless of a short or long journey, is enjoyable. He will also fetch me to work if I win the car!
I sincerely wish to share this benefit with good folks who live in our neighborhood so they too can travel to and from work in cool comfort and great company!
