Dear taxi driver-partners, we know you work hard every day to provide a safe and reliable experience for your passengers.
Here’s a quick heads-up on some important LTA regulations to help keep your vocational licence in good standing.
On Overcharging — Keep It Fair
We know the majority of you are already doing this right! Just a gentle reminder to:
- Always use your taximeter for all metered fare trips
- Charge only the amount shown on your taximeter
- Issue a receipt to your passenger at the end of every trip
Keeping things transparent builds trust with your passengers and protects you at the same time.
Penalty for Overcharging: Composition sum of $500 and up to 21 demerit points
On Refusing Passengers — Every Ride Counts
Every passenger deserves a comfortable and respectful ride. As a reminder:
- Ensure your taxi rooftop sign is correctly displayed
- Accept all passengers regardless of their destination
- Accept all forms of payment
A little patience and professionalism goes a long way — for your passengers and for your own peace of mind.
Penalty for Refusing to Hire Out: Composition sum of $300 and 6 demerit points
If you ever have questions or need support, the Ryde team is always here for you. Drive safe and take care out there!
