18 Jul Ryde Rolls Out On-Demand Service
With more than 10,000 private-hire fleet onboard
Singapore, 17 July 2018 – Ryde Technologies (Ryde), Singapore’s homegrown mobility app rolls out on-demand private-hire car feature 10 weeks after launching the scheduled RydeX service in May. More than 10,000 private-hire drivers have registered with Ryde since. Ryde has been conducting trials the past 2 weeks for the new feature.
Ryde’s on-demand feature connects riders with a nearby driver when they request for a ride, reducing average wait times to under 5 minutes for each booking. Drivers can now accept both on-demand and scheduled jobs and expect to take home 20% more earnings as they spend lesser time idling between jobs.
The on-demand feature is available on the Ryde app for all services, including carpool, private-hire and taxis. This is an industry first and completes Ryde’s mobility suite of on-demand services which provides a better mobility experience for users.
Terence Zou, Founder and CEO of Ryde Technologies says, “We are now a “complete” ride-hailing app with a full suite of on-demand mobility services ready at a tap – carpool, pets, private-hire and taxis.”
Ryde has received overwhelming market response since the launch of RydeX. Overall volume of transactions for all services on the app have increased 5 fold. As a result, the on-demand service launch has been brought forward earlier than expected.
Terence Zou added, “We have arrived: we picked up from where Uber left off in double quick time. Technology helped us to onboard drivers quicker, match riders faster and ultimately deliver a better experience.”
80% of Ryde’s active driver base are former Uber or LCR drivers. Ryde pledges to keep fares at competitive levels with reasonable surge pricing during peak hours to more efficiently calibrate demand and supply. All fares are upfront and fixed to provide price certainty to users. Users will experience faster matches for their bookings. Furthermore, drivers can expect to take home higher incomes with market-lowest service fees of 5% for carpool and 10% for private hire.
Consultant and regular RydeX rider Michelle Lim, 27, said that the new on-demand service is a great addition to the Ryde app. “This service creates greater efficiency and reduces the waiting time taken for commuters. I can now book rides as and when I want.” she said.
Regular Ryde driver Nicholas Wong, 23, feels that the new live ping feature on the Ryde driver app is convenient and user-friendly. “I have been waiting for this feature and it helps us (drivers) save time because trips can be viewed more easily. On-demand also helps us plan our schedule better because only the best nearby matches will show up.” added Wong.
What can Drivers Expect?
Seamless Driving Experience. Drivers can expect live pings which allow them to be matched with a nearby rider while driving on the road.
More Options. This on-demand feature is a complementary to drivers who are unable to find suitable scheduled trips.
Enhanced Efficiency. Drivers will have better job visibility as trips will automatically be assigned to them in the form of live pings. This leads to better earning opportunities as there is shorter waiting time between jobs.
What can Riders Expect?
Instant Bookings. Once the trip is accepted, riders can proceed to the specified pick-up point directly. The driver will drive to the the pick-up point upon acceptance of the trip booking.
Live Tracking. Riders can now track the location and the estimated time of arrival of their drivers when drivers are on their way.
Enhanced User Experience. Riders enjoy a complete mobility experience as they are able to request for rides anytime with this addition to Ryde’s suite of services.
